The club were invited to join in the celebration of all things good about our wonderful town on Friday at the Proud of Barnsley Awards.
We can be extremely proud of some remarkable people in Barnsley, and it was great to hear some of the heartwarming stories of people who have taken tragedies in their life and focused on making a difference to help others.
The club were humbled to be nominated for the Sporting Achievement Award alongside British and Commonwealth gold medalist, Lachlan Moorhead, World Athletics Championship 200m finalist, Joe Ferguson and Woman’s football European Championship winner Bethany England. Congratulations to Joe on winning the award.
A special mention must go to Gemma Cook, who won the Triumph Over Adversity Award at the dinner. Gemma started the Bee Kind For Honey charity after losing her daughter Honey and hosted a fantastic event at Woolley this summer which raised over £20,000 for mental health charities. A truly inspirational young lady who deserves all the recognition she can get, and is busy organising an even bigger event in 2023.
Thank you to the Barnsley Chronicle for inviting us to a truly humbling event and well done to everyone who was nominated for the awards.
